New International Standard for Materials Testing
As part of a research project dealing with polyethylene tubes a new testing method has been developed at PCCL which makes it possible to significantly speed up materials testing, cutting the duration, which up to now has often been a year, to a matter of days. The international standardization of the testing procedure, in which PCCL played an active role, also leads to new options for materials and product classification. The improved quality of information about material properties relevant to the material’s lifespan provides advantages not only for operation, saving resources and reducing costs, but also opens up new perspectives for the further development of new materials for polyethylene tubes. For example, the new method allows precise determination of the crack resistance of polyethylenes produced either completely or partly from recycled material. Austrian Standards awarded PCCL the Living Standards Award 2016 for the company’s tremendous commitment to this project.
