PSSP - Photonic Sensing for Smarter Processes
Since September 2018, RECENDT has been running the K project “Photonic Sensing for Smarter Processes” (PSSP). A total of 11 partner companies and 5 scientific partners are involved in the 4-year project which has the aim of continuing the development of measuring technologies based on photonics with a view to optimizing production processes in industry.
The creation of inline measuring data (with non-destructive testing methods) and intelligent real-time use of this data make more intelligent processes possible. In this context, the word “smart” is open to many interpretations: it may suggest Industry 4.0, but may also imply saving resources, increasing quality and speeding up processes. Sometimes it is intelligent control that makes smart processes and the production of new and improved products possible in the first place. And it is unquestionably “smart” to integrate automatic measuring and control tasks into the process so that employees have free capacities to work on the further optimization of the production processes and products.
