VPA 4.0 Research Project – Virtual Production Assistant
In the age of Industry 4.0, machine, process and logistics data are increasingly becoming an essential element in companies’ value creation chains. The aim of digitalization is comprehensive and automated collection of these data streams. For the companies, this presents the challenge of extracting valuable information and know-how from the data collected. The virtual production assistant helps them filter useful knowledge and recommendations for action from it.
VPA 4.0 primarily supports domain experts. It collates all the information from production, the processes, the configuration, the jobs and the tools of one or several machines. Methods of artificial intelligence and data and visual analytics are used to achieve better understanding.
As part of the “VPA 4.0 – Virtual Production Assistant” project, which is oriented towards pure research and funded by the government of Upper Austria, RISC Software GmbH is already working on a prototype of ANNA. In cooperation with the Upper Austrian mechanical engineering firms of ENGEL AUSTRIA GmbH and FILL Gesellschaft m.b.H. the findings obtained from processing and analysing the data are evaluated on the basis of practical scenarios in the production and maintenance sectors.
