Fit4Speech
The power of speech is a fundamental requirement for social development, learning at school, a successful working life and fulfilment in life in general. Results of the Idstein language screening of children aged three to six and in the first year of school show that 16.3% of all children in Germany have problems with pronunciation. The project aims to develop German-language resources to promote pronunciation in four- to seven-year-olds by stimulating various senses. The overall package consists of an app with separate modules and guidelines tailored to each target group and helps parents and teachers to provide very effective support to children with developing their pronunciation. As part of the Fit4Speech project, a comprehensive support concept is to be devised and implemented which is based on evidence-based therapy approaches to rectifying phonological retardation or defects and will exploit the many media, advantages and possible applications offered by a tablet computer.
