Fatigue Lifetime Assessment

Tasks:

  • Research, development and implementation of numerical models for fatigue life prediction of fiber reinforced polymers in FEMFAT
  • Mechanical characterization of reinforced and unreinforced polymers
  • Development of simulation strategies for composite materials in commercial software tools
  • Documentation of scientific results in peer-reviewed journals and participation in international conferences
  • Support of the project management in administrative activities


Required skills:

  • Above average master’s degree in one of the fields of material science, polymer engineer-ing, mechanical engineering, physics or comparable technical study
  • Profound programming skills (e.g.: Matlab, Python, C, C++…)
  • Practice with FE-software (e.g.: LS-Dyna or Abaqus) and knowledge in continuums mechanics is desirable
  • Experience in using testing machines (MTS, Zwick), and basic knowledge in polymeric and composite materials are advantageous
  • Experience with CAD software solutions are advantageous
  • Personal initiative, skills for self-organization and teamwork, effective communication skills with the ability to interface with partner companies and other researchers
  • Fluent English spoken and written, German on advantage

  • Gross income € 3.072,- (for a classification as a PhD candidate; full-time employment, 14 times a year)
