Upper Austria among the Frontrunners with 3.17% Expenditure on R&D

The latest R&D survey conducted by Statistik Austria shows that Upper Austria spends 3.17% of the province's total budget on R&D. This puts Upper Austria above the average funding rates for both Austria as a whole (2.97% for R&D) and the EU (2.0% for R&D). Compared to 2009, spending on R&D was increased by 41% to EUR 1.7 thousand million!

The great importance attached to R&D in Upper Austria is shown once again by the current figures in the reviews on research and experimental development in every sector of the economy carried out by STATISTIK AUSTRIA (based on the year 2013). These figures show that Upper Austria has R&D investment amounting to 3.17% of the GRP (gross regional product or "regional GDP"). This puts Upper Austria above the average funding rates for both Austria as whole (2.97% for R&D) and the EU (2.0% for R&D). In comparison, Upper Austria invested 2.59% of its budget in R&D in 2009 and 2.71% in 2011.
