Upper Austrian Research @ 2014 Long Night of Research

Upper Austria has much to offer in terms of research: not just in technology and science, but also in health and medical research, law, social sciences and economics or the humanities and cultural sciences. All this research is presented to budding scientists of all ages in a way that is both fascinating and easy to understand. A wide range of topics is covered and visitors can meet the researchers face to face.

The associated research companies of Upper Austrian Research GmbH will be participating in the Long Night of Research in Upper Austria on 04/04/2014 and will present their research topics. Explore the world of research in the fields of mechatronics, innovative materials, information and communications technology, energy, logistics and life sciences with interactive presentations and experiments.

In JKU Science Park 2, the associated research companies of Upper Austrian Research GmbH will be showing the very latest research findings in the fields of mechatronics, non-destructive materials testing and innovative natural-fibre/polymer composites.

Linz Center of Mechatronics GmbH (LCM)
The Linz Center of Mechatronics is the number 1 in Austria for applied mechatronics research and sets new standards with its intelligent combination of informatics, mechanics and electronics. The LCM is a reliable partner for its customers – from SMEs to globally operating concerns. For the Long Night of Research the LCM will show how electrical energy can be obtained by means of mechanical vibrations.

Research Center for Non Destructive Testing GmbH (RECENDT)
The Linz research company Research Center for Non Destructive Testing GmbH develops high-tech solutions for non-destructive materials testing and materials characterisation which are tailored to the needs of the customer. At the Long Night of Research you can find out from RECENDT about the many fields in which non-destructive testing is used.

Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH (Wood K plus)
The Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH is recognised throughout Europe as the leading research institution for materials research and process technology for sustainable raw materials, wood, wood chemistry and wood composites. At the Long Night of Research, new technologies and areas of application for environmentally-friendly natural-fibre/polymer composites will be shown.

Upper Austrian Research
In Science Park 2, visitors to Upper Austrian Research GmbH can find out everything there is to know about career paths in the various research fields offered by non-university applied research in Upper Austria.

At the JKU Life Science Center OÖ, the Center for Advanced Bioanalyses GmbH (CBL) and BioMed-zet Life Science GmbH will be showing the latest research findings in the field of life sciences.

Center for Advanced Bioanalyses GmbH (CBL)
With state-of-the-art methods and approaches in biophysics, the Center for Advanced Bioanalyses GmbH sets new standards for the next generation of medical diagnostics and therapies. Try some experiments yourself using the latest research techniques at the Long Night of Research Find out about cell research, or the analysis of biofilms and DNA, biochips, micro- and nanotechnologies etc.

BioMed-zet Life Science GmbH
Applied research in the field of life sciences with the emphasis on medicine, modern operating techniques and cell biology are among the challenges that BioMed-zet Life Science GmbH sets out to meet. Injuries to peripheral nerves can result in permanent pain and a loss of function. At the Long Night of Research, you can discover how injuries to nerve tissues can be measured with the aid of a marker-free technique (impedance measurement).
