SCCH: Pregnant Thanks To Artificial Intelligence

Around 43 years ago, in IVF ushered in modern reproductive medicine. According to the Austrian IVF register of 2019 the probability of becoming pregnant with this treatment is approximately 35 per cent. As part of a project funded by the government of Upper Austria through #upperVISION2030, the fertility centre at the Kepler University Clinic is working with SSCCH on improving the quality assessment of blastocysts with the aid of AI and consequently increasing the likelihood of pregnancy.

Pro2Future: New Headquarters Opened in Linz

In September, Pro2Future hosted the 6th partner conference and welcomed guests to the official opening of the company’s new headquarters. In the summer of 2021, the research centre moved into new offices and laboratories in Science Park 4 on the campus of the Johannes Kepler University. At its headquarters in Linz, its premises in Graz and its project location in Steyr, the centre conducts research on intelligent and thinking products.

SCCH: AI Speeds Up Ecological Precision Farming

ENSIO GmbH designs, develops and supplies image-processing and camera systems for agricultural weeding tines under the brand name OKIO which make real-time identification of crop and weeds possible while farm vehicles are in motion. The company is carrying out a joint research project with Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH) that uses deep learning methods to develop plant models that can not only identify crop but can also precisely locate stems and roots.

SAL Develops New Micromirrors for Dynamic Light Functions

In cooperation with the research partners Silicon Austria Labs, Evatec, EV Group and TDK Electronics, ZKW is working on “micromirror” technology. This microelectromechanical system (MEMS) consists of a chip with integrated, microscopic mirror mechanics. The micromirror can be pivoted along two axes by piezoelectricity, enabling pinpoint guidance of a laser beam.
