Upper Austria Shows a High Concentration of Circular Economy Expertise: 6 New Research Projects

“63 companies and research institutions took part in our call for grant applications,” explains Upper Austria’s research and economy minister Markus Achleitner. “This shows the high level of expertise with regard to the circular economy that exists in Upper Austria. An international panel of judges selected the six most promising projects which will now receive a total of EUR 3.35 million in grants from the Upper Austrian government.” Achleitner expects the first results in 2023.

That was the Online Expo “UAR Innovation Network 360°”

Looking back at the online show that was held from 22 to 24 June by Upper Austrian Research (UAR), the lead research company of the province of Upper Austria, economy and research minister Markus Achleitner said: “The three-day online show 'UAR Innovation Network 360°' demonstrated how digitalization is finding its way into every production level, whatever the branch. Especially in Upper Austria, new research standards are constantly being reached, for example in 6G, the next generation of mobile communications networks. Here, the research being conducted by Silicon Austria Labs GmbH (SAL) aims to make the province’s capital, Linz, a centre of industrial applications in Europe.”

COMET: Positive Interim Assessment of the K2 Centres LCM & MCL

In the COMET programme (Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies), K2 centres are the flagship category and aspire to international research of the very highest quality. One of the five such centres in Austria is located at Linz Center of Mechatronics, a member of the UAR Innovation Network. Now the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) has decided to continue the “Center for Symbiotic Mechatronics”, a K2 centre since the programme’s inception, and the next five-year period of funding will start in 2022 with a budget of EUR 53.3 million.
