MMP-SYMPOSIUM: PRODUCTIVE ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS - VIRTUAL

At the 1st virtual man-machine production (MMP) symposium on October 14, 2020, you will learn how assistance systems in production can improve quality, increase productivity and accelerate the introduction of new technologies.

You can expect theoretical basics, practical applications and generally usable knowledge about assistance in the production context.

Digital Long Night of Research on 09/10/2020

In times like these it is not possible to hold the Long Night of Research in the usual way. In addition, our exhibiting organizations are currently facing enormous challenges. That is why this year, in keeping with the motto of “digital transformation”, we are staging part of the programme solely as virtual events. Around 200 contributions from all nine provinces will be available online. On 9 October 2020 there will be numerous live streams in keeping with the interactive character of the Long Night of Research. The entire online programme will be available from 9 October to 30 December 2020.

Profactor: Digital Platform for Zero-Defect Production

To remain competitive and maintain its leading position in manufacturing, industry in Europe must be able to manufacture high-quality products and to increase productivity while keeping costs low. The spread of new digital solutions along the production process chain which aim to make production more efficient means that manufacturing industry is undergoing a period of major change. The project “Zero-Defects-Manufacturing Platform” (ZDMP) aims to attain outstanding performance in manufacturing by means of zero-defect processes and products. On the project, PROFACTOR, along with 30 European partners from research and industry, is creating a digital platform for connected intelligent factories.

SCCH: Trying out Real Research and Moving AI Forward

Under the work experience scheme for talented youngsters which is supported by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), Viktoria Fürst took the opportunity to sample work in the field of data science at Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH). Viktoria is a 5th-year secondary pupil at Schloss Wagrain school. On her reasons for taking part in the work experience programme she says: “I expect this work experience to give me insights into professional work and an idea of day-to-day working life. But most of all I expect to learn many new things and to gain experience of research and the subject of data science."

Wood: Fibre-Reinforced Components from the 3D Printer

Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, is far superior to other methods when it comes to cost efficiency, customizability and sustainability. Consequently, it is becoming increasingly common in more and more fields. And the possibilities are still far from exhausted. On the FFG project eFAM4Ind (Endless fiber reinforced additive manufacturing for industrial applications) launched in April 2020, these possibilities are being explored in the high-performance product segment and lightweight construction:

MCL received approval for the EU project FOXES (“Fully Oxide-based Zero-Emission and Portable Energy Supply”). On this project, research is being conducted into a zero-emission energy supply system for powering wireless devices.
