UAR Joint Stand at the JKU Careers Day 2017

For the 6th time in succession, Upper Austrian Research was joined by four other exhibitors from the UAR associated companies on a fair stand at the JKU Careers Day 2017, the careers fair of the Kepler Society Linz. Representatives from PROFACTORS, LCM, PCCL, RECENDT and UAR were present on 29/11/2017 to talk face-to-face with around 120 interested students and graduates from a wide range of technical and scientific fields.

Focus Cooperation: UAR Researchers Visit INOCON Technologie GmbH

On 29 November 2017, representatives of non-university research institutions visited the technology company INOCON. The purpose of the visit was a discussion on specific topics relating to the future and research skills with a view to exploring possible areas of cooperation. The meeting was organized with a clear objective: the strategic networking of centres of excellence from science and industry. This exchange on specific subjects laid the first foundations of potential cooperation on the development of technologies of the future.

PROFACTOR - Openlab: the robot. Our colleague

The robot. Our colleague. This was the motto under which PROFACTOR extended an invitation to visit the cognitive factory-LAB in Steyr on Wednesday, 22 November as part of the euRobotics Weeks.Demonstrators from current research projects gave insights into the robotics of tomorrow – into a kind of robotics that is geared to intelligent cooperation with humans. In the morning, discussions were held on current areas of use and trends in collaborative robotics in the seminar “Human-machine interaction – assistive robotics”.

Highest hygiene standards in food production

RECENDT GmbH is a partner in the newly founded food research centre FFoQSI (feed & food quality, safety and innovation). At this centre, a new measuring instrument will be developed in the coming years to enable straightforward and rapid detection of hazardous contamination in areas where food and feed are processed. With modern methods of infrared spectroscopy, production of a cost-effective hand-held appliance for mobile use in trade and industry will be possible.

European Robotik Week

Robotors are our colleagues. Under this slogan PROFACTOR invites you to visit their robotic laboratory in Steyr during the eurRobotics Weeks on Wednesday, November 22nd.

Different demonstrators of research projects will be presented to give you an overview of the future of robotic – the robotic that considers intelligent cooperation with humans.

TCKT presents new infrastructure

Tuesday, the 24th of October was the day TCKT and University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria presented their new composite R&D infrastructure – one AFP setup from TCKT as well as a thermoforming station from University of Applied Sciences.Our invitation was accepted by about 50 participants from 25 different companies. The project “ProFVK” is co-funded by the European Union and the province of Upper Austria within the funding scheme EFRD “IWB 2014-2020”.

RISC Software GmbH Starts the FEMtech Project

Equal opportunities as the key to success: RISC Software starts the FEMtech project. With roughly one third of its employees women, RISC Software GmbH already has a higher share than the average in the branch of approx. 14%. The “FEMPowered@RISC” project aims to cement this strong position still further. The project, funded by the FFG scheme “Talente”, prepares female staff members at RISC Software for management roles. In the workshop, gender-neutral communication was discussed as were the subjects of women in engineering and gender roles in research.

PCCL Expands Tribology Expertise with Anton Paar

Anton Paar and PCCL announce R&D cooperation in the field of polymer tribology with Anton Paar providing PCCL with a high-end rheometer fitted with a tribology cell. PCCL is cooperating with partners from industry on developing innovative tribological testing methods and optimizing polymers with specific tribological properties. To enhance the company’s competence profile, a cooperative R&D venture was recently launched with Anton Paar in order to exploit the potential offered by the measuring systems developed by Anton Paar for the purposes of polymer tribology.

LisiGoesDigital: Improved Traffic Monitoring App for Linz Conurbation

The LisiGo app was released in March 2017 by the OÖNachrichten newspaper, RISC Software GmbH and the government of Upper Austria for Android and in the Apple Store. This mobile application provides motorists with up-to-the-minute information on the traffic situation in the Linz conurbation. Installed over 15,000 times in the space of a single week, the app attracted a large number of users very quickly. LisiGoesDigital focuses on assurance of the quality of the data and use of the anonymized data relating to the movements of the LisiGo community

LCM and Smartbow Win 2nd Prize at the European Innovation Awards

At the ceremony for the EARTO Innovation Awards, the prestigious European research awards, Smartbow and Linz Center of Mechatronics GmbH (LCM) placed second among a total of 32 entries from all over Europe. The awards ceremony took place on 11 October 2017 at the BELVue Museum in Brussels. Linz Center of Mechatronics GmbH (LCM) and Smartbow presented their project in an elevator pitch in the “Impact Delivered” category.
