Wood K plus Wins Upper Austrian Award for Innovation 2019

On 24/10/2019 the innovation awards of the province of Upper Austria were presented for the 26th time at the ORF broadcasting studios in Linz. A twelve-member jury chose the winners from a total of 73 submissions in the categories “Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises”, “Large Enterprises” and “Research Institutions”. Wood K plus won the award for research institutions for the second time after 2014. Having won the jury’s award for radical innovations in 2015, Wood K plus has now landed three awards in the space of five years.

PCCL: CSO is “Austrian of the Year”

In the category “Research”, Wolfgang Kern, Chief Scientific Officer of Polymer Competence Center Leoben GmbH and head of the Chair of Chemistry of Polymeric Materials at Montanuniversität Leoben, was voted “Austrian of the Year 2019” by a panel of expert judges.

To present research in Upper Austria imaginatively and vividly – that was the aim of FOTO CHALLENGE 2019. Three photographers took up this challenge. Under the motto “Putting Upper Austrian research in the picture” the best photos in the competition were awarded prizes at the start of the Upper Austrian “Zukunftsforum 2019 – Wirtschaft & Technologie” (“future forum 2019 – business & technology”).

FOTO CHALLENGE 2019 in Cooperation with Prager School of Photography

Under the motto “Putting Upper Austrian research in the picture” Foto Challenge 2019 portrays some of the major research achievements in a creative way. Three photographers were selected via a call issued by the Prager school of photography. At research institutions and company development labs, these photographers will create photo series dealing with three research fields. The best photos will be awarded prizes on 30/9/2019 at the Upper Austrian Zukunftsforum 2019.

SCCH: 30th Anniversary of the DEXA Conference

The Johannes Kepler University Linz hosted the DEXA Conference (Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications), an event of global standing. The Conference focused on the latest developments in the fields of digitalization and artificial intelligence. It was organized by the Institute for Telecooperation at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Software Competence Center Hagenberg and the International Organization on Information Integration and Web-Based Applications & Services. Founded 30 years ago by the professors Dr A Min Tjoa and Dr Roland Wagner, DEXA is now more successful than ever.
