The COMET K1 research center Pro²Future (Cognitive and Sustainable Products and Production Systems of the Future) is already focusing on cognitization by embedding AI methods and algorithms in products and production systems, sustainability of production processes and as a basic principle of product design, and human-centered industrial systems for the period after the digital transformation in industry. This is based on fundamental principles of computer-aided perception, orchestrated device and process control (orchestration), and explanatory predictive analytics (analytics). Sustainability is addressed with contributions to circular economy, energy efficiency, resilience and technological sovereignty.
