COMET: Three Ground-Breaking Research Projects Launched

Competition in the 2nd call for grant applications for so-called COMET modules was fierce. 17 modules were submitted for funding from a budget sufficient to support six such proposals. Three, that is half, of the approved modules were submitted by research centres in the UAR Innovation Network – a remarkable success! Each module has a project budget of EUR 3.75 million and is scheduled to run for four years.

COMET: Positive Interim Assessment of the K2 Centres LCM & MCL

In the COMET programme (Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies), K2 centres are the flagship category and aspire to international research of the very highest quality. One of the five such centres in Austria is located at Linz Center of Mechatronics, a member of the UAR Innovation Network. Now the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) has decided to continue the “Center for Symbiotic Mechatronics”, a K2 centre since the programme’s inception, and the next five-year period of funding will start in 2022 with a budget of EUR 53.3 million.

COMET: EUR 4 million for 3 New COMET Projects With Upper Austrian Involvement

“The government of Austria is granting EUR 4 million to three research projects with Upper Austrian involvement,” says Upper Austria’s economy and research minister Markus Achleitner. “This gives the Upper Austrian research community another significant boost in the context of cooperation between science and industry. Innovative techniques for industrial production, optimization of hydrogen technologies, and e-batteries – these important topics are being explored by three new research projects launched under COMET, the Austrian government’s competence centre programme, and co-financed by the Upper Austrian government. Upper Austrian research institutions and companies are playing a central role in all three.”

COMET: Three K modules for UAR Innovation Network

The results of the first K module call under the COMET research funding scheme are in. This latest addition to the COMET research funding programme enables existing K1 centres to tackle subjects of supreme relevance for the future. Three of the six approved innovation projects come from the UAR Innovation Network. SCCH continues to break new ground in research into artificial intelligence. In two K modules, PCCL is developing polymer materials for both the digital age and hydrogen technology.
